A pinch of heartache.

Mix together in a large bowl, creating a difficult choice, a testing of one’s faith, and a man who will do anything to protect his family—even if it means accepting a decision that could result in losing the one he loves most.

Bake at 350° for a rich serving of life with a love that could withstand anything. Even the unthinkable.

A timeless recipe that is sure to fill your heart with a generous helping of sweet love.

***
This is a longer length novella that follows Sawyer and Grace’s journey after Sweet Temptation, book two in the Men of Honor series. It is told in dual POV, has an HEA, and no cliffhanger. Sweet Temptation should be read prior to this novella. It is recommended to read the other books in both the Men of Honor series and the Acts of Honor series as all the characters play recurring roles. However it’s not necessary.

Warning: Due to mature subject matter, such as explicit sexual situations and coarse language, this story is not suitable for anyone under the age of 18.

*MY REVIEW*
I wasn't sure what to expect from returning character's in this book. What could possibly happen that they needed to have one more book? What was left out of the first one? Who is going to be coming back that this book needs to be written? All questions I had when I seen who this book was about.
What I got wasn't want I expected nor did I ever see coming. This has been one of my favorite series written. So I jumped at the chance to see what was going to happen that this couple that went through so much in the first book needed to have a 2nd book.
I'm not going to lie and say that I didn't have some moments in this book where I shed a few tears had to stop reading for a bit and come back or that I threw my kindle down. Because I did. This made me take a hard look at what would I do if this were me. How would I react? The answer. I still don't know.
I felt my heart break in so many different ways while healing in others for this book. It was a emotional gripping story told like no other. Soul cleansing story that your not going to want to miss out on.

Excerpt

“What are you doin’ here?” I ask, licking my suddenly dry lips.

“I came here for you. We have some things to discuss.”

Uh oh… My pulse races for a whole other reason now. Does he know about my visit at the hospital today?

“Like what?” I whisper.

“Like this.” Hooking an arm around my neck, he yanks me against him then claims my lips in a heated caress.

My fingers curl in his shirt, a blissful sigh escaping me as he suddenly makes everything in my world right again.

A growl vibrates from him just before he picks me up off my feet, letting them dangle inches off the ground. My arms encircle his neck and I cling to him, absorbing his warmth.

“Too long, Cupcake,” he groans against my lips. “Been too fucking long without this.” He blows through the swinging door to the kitchen and sets me on the island. His large, warm hands slip under my skirt and run up my thighs to grip my hips. I suck in precious air as his mouth moves to the tender flesh of my throat. “No more, Grace. You hear me? You’re my wife, which means I get your taste, your body, and your heart every fucking day. You belong to me.”

***

This is book three in the Acts Of Honor series, the spin-off series to Men Of Honor. Kolan and Sophie’s story is told in dual POV, has an HEA with no cliffhanger, and can be read as a standalone. However, I highly recommend reading prior books in both series, as characters play recurring roles throughout.

REVIEW:
I didn't know what to expect with this book. I loved the first one in the series and couldn't wait for this one. Kelly coming out with a brand new series is just what I wanted. Although I love her other series and Wanted is one of my ALL time top favorite books I wanted something new from her. The first book painted Melcolm in a bad light this book painted him in a new light.
The start of the book I will be honest I struggled with. But by the time chapter 3 or so rolled around I was so into it I couldn't really put the book down. I wanted to know what was going to happen. I wanted these two people together. I wanted the drama that I knew was coming. And boy did I get it. The heartbreak that comes during the book is one a lot of people are going to be able to relate to. The love that we get to witness during this book is something that they have to fight to have.
This is a book that brought forth a brand new writing style for Kelly and one I hope that she continues.

Cover Reveal for Dear Heart I Hate You by J. Sterling

Synopsis:
JULES
 I didn’t plan on him. ...
Or for him.
Or anything that had to do with Cal Donovan from Boston.

Meeting him had been a complete and utter surprise, taking me one hundred percent off guard. I met new people every single day in my line of work and none of them affected me. Wasn’t that the way of things though? You could meet a thousand people and they’d all mean nothing to you, but then you’d meet that one and they suddenly meant everything.
I had always been focused on work. When did making yourself your number one priority become such a negative thing? I wasn’t entirely sure, but I learned fairly quickly after my last breakup that men didn’t like being second on the priority scale. And they seemed to be intimidated by a motivated woman, calling me things like “hard to handle,” “challenging,” and “difficult.”
Being single seemed to work best for me and I had no plans on changing my relationship status anytime soon.

And then I met Cal.
And he fucking ruined everything.

ABOUT J. STERLING:
I got fired from my last job.
It's true.
I know you're sitting there thinking, "Jenn, how could anyone in their right mind fire someone like you?" And I'd love to give you a good reason, but the truth is that sometimes being all sorts of awesome isn't fun for other people. They don't always tend to like it. lol  :)
So I picked my pride off the floor, bought a laptop and started writing my first book. And you know what I realized? Writing stories that meant something to me was a million times better than working my ass off for someone who didn't really care about anything other than the bottom line.
My soul has never felt more satisfied.
My heart has never been more full.
I've never worked so hard in my life, but I love every second of it. I truly do.
It is SO worth it.
All of it.
Every moment.
The journey it took to get to this point- I wouldn't change a thing.
So thank you for reading, loving and recommending the stories I write to other people. Your word of mouth is my very best friend.... that and your reviews.  :)
I sincerely appreciate each and every one of you.

 MY REVIEW
What can I say about this book? It left me wanting more. Major book hangover. Still feeling the emotions from it a week later. These are all things that are true about this book. I first fell in love with Life on Pause due to the book's trailer. Little did I know at the time of reading it that this book would become one of my favorite books written by her. I waited (not so patiently) for the sequel. When it finally landed on my kindle I may have done a happy dance. But that mood quickly turned to a somber mood when I started the book. I shed some tears had some laughs and wanted to throw my kindle across the room while reading. But by the end of the book the last few pages had me smiling and wanting more from this series. (HINT HINT Frost)
But I must say through it all this book kept me intrigued with what was happening but on the same hand frustrated with it also. I cant say enough of how much I LOVE Frost and her work's. So go take a ride on the wild side of love so to speak and buy these books. I promise you wont be disappointed.

Snippet:

Rapid clicking from the barrel of my .45 caliber echoes in my head. The tremble in my hands is shuttering through my entire body. Sweat rolls from my forehead into my eye and I reach up, not able to remember when I buzzed my hair last. The soft bristle over my palm answers the question I should have known. I never let my hair get long because this desert heat has potential to kill you. Shaving my head only offers a small amount of relief, but it's something.

The sweat and shaking probably makes me look nervous, but I'm not. The only outcome of this standoff results in me winning. The heat probably has me dehydrated, which explains the shaking, but there's no time for water. I have to say my apologies and hope firing this bullet won't be taken personal. It's nothing against them. But this is a war.

"Put the gun down, Ash," Danny's nervous voice unexpectedly comes from my left and makes me flinch. "Stop! Stop. Just put it down."

Shaking my head no, I squeeze my eyes closed and release the building moisture that I don't want to admit to being tears. I lift my left hand until it's aligned with my sight and stare at the picture of Cammy.

I can't talk right now, but I can speak my peace in my head and I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything I couldn't protect you from. I'm sorry I didn't tell you until it was too late that I loved you. I'm sorry I left you for the army. I'm sorry I love you as much as I do because being without you makes me feel like I don't know who I am. And I can't do this without you.

The clicking of the barrel off my teeth has seemed to stop. The rolling sweat from my hairline has dried. But the tears, they remain and are leaking with the will to hold on.

"Ash, she wouldn't want you to do this, man. Put the fucking gun down!"

Looking from the blinding sun I take a moment before flashing my sight to the apology letter for my dad that's sitting on a rock and I hope it makes it home. Then I look back to the picture in hand for one last look at Cammy. The second my eyelids shut off the world in front of me I'm shoved off my knees and as I fall sideways the gun rips out of my mouth and fires.

"Ow!" Danny howls and my sight lands on him before I react.

He's holding his jaw and ear so I abandon my thoughts of suicide and rush to help my friend.

"You asshole!" he screams at me before colliding his fist with my nose.

Stumbling back and rapidly blinking, the vision of the desert is fading away and I realize I'm in our bathroom of the beach house. I'm not deployed. I'm in Florida and suffering day ninety-four of Cammy leaving me and disappearing.

Tangled Hearts By Sarah O'Rourke

banner

cover

Army Strong has a mission....to protect Southern Sassy at all costs.
The directive had been clear: Deeply embed himself in the fair town of Paradise, Tennessee, and keep one Melody Song Reardon from forgiving her fornicating ex-fiancé and keep her safe by any means necessary.  Fortunately, Retired First Sergeant Callum Valentine had always been a man that got the job done. Unfortunately, nobody told him that while his ‘job’ might be as pretty as a picture, she could be ornery as a wet cat and had a stubborn streak a mile long. Now, he was battling baristas and dodging would-be assassins in an effort to keep one sultry southern minx safe.

He’d thought the Taliban would be the most dangerous force he ever face. Imagine his surprise when he realized that the radical extremists had nothing on one curvy little woman with a wicked edge to her tongue…. a woman that had somehow tangled herself around his cold heart.
★✩★

Melody Song Reardon was done with men. After learning that the man she’d been going to marry was no better than a corporate Casanova in and out of the boardroom and bedroom, she’d decided that love just wasn’t in the cards for her.  Which was fine.  She was young, smart, and capable… and better yet, she had a dream and a plan: Opening her very own book/yarn store – Hooks & Books. She had the brains. She had the building. And now, she had a freaking bodyguard compliments of her interfering older brother?

She didn’t care how mouthwateringly handsome her so-called savior was; she didn’t need another controlling man in her life telling her what to do. At least, she hadn’t needed one…. until those nerve wracking hang-ups and strange notes took an ominous turn. Now, somebody wants her dead and the only thing standing between her and the Grim Reaper is one seriously gorgeous man named Callum Valentine.   Falling in love again in the middle of her own personal apocalypse hadn’t been the plans…then again, the great thing about a plan is that it can change on a dime!

My Review
It is not a surprise that I love this book. I have very quickly falling in love with the writing of Sarah O'Rourke. I love this series and these character's. The way that she brought in a new couple with little ease and made them seem like they were apart of the story all along is something that not many can do. I have found over the years of reading that with series with as many character's and books in it as this one has that it is hard to hold my attention after a few books. Mostly due to the fact that they seem to be the same book just written with different character's. This is not the case with The Passion In Paradise series. Although you do get all the character's in the different books they are not the main one's.
This book brought us two brand new people into
Paradise and I have to say they fit right in with the rest of them. You have your Alpha Male and Girl that wants to do it all on her own. But you also have a couple that makes you laugh and want to cheer on. I cant wait for the next book in this series. I cant say enough how much that I LOVE this series and how well written the books are.
If you are looking for a Laugh out loud make you want to slap two people's heads together to make them see they actually do have feelings for each other than these are the books for you. Go check them out.

Excerpt
Cal watched her another minute.  “You’re a stubborn little ball of fury, aren’t you?” he asked as he watched her try to attach the tool to the lug nut, wincing as the metal slipped for the second time in a row.

Melody took a deep breath before she slowly turned to face her tormenter.  “I was brought up believing that a girl should be able to take care of herself.  I forgot that lesson for a little while and almost made a mistake I could never undo with a man I’d rather forget.  I’m not ever going to repeat that experience again. So, to answer your question, yes, I’m a stubborn little ball of fury.  Now, will you please go on your merry way?”

Cal finally gave into the urge and laughed, earning himself a cold look from the woman currently on her knees.  “Careful, Princess.  I’m gonna get a complex here because it’s beginning to feel like you don’t like me very much,” he taunted her with a wink.  Seeing her press her lips together tightly, he knew she was fighting the urge to scream bloody murder at him.  Squatting beside her, he met her fiery gaze.  “Cat got your tongue, Pretty Girl?”

“No,” she declared with a shake of her head as she looked from him to his jacked up truck.  “Do you mind if I ask you a question?”

“Ask away, darlin’,” he invited silkily with a ready nod.  “I’m an open book,” he declared, holding his muscular arms out to his sides.  And it was true.  The book on him was open; it just happened to be written in code, he thought to himself as he gave himself a mental pat on the back for his own wittiness.

Melody offered him a deceptively sweet smile.  “Is it true that men use big trucks to compensate for smaller endowments in, well,… other more intimate areas?” she asked, dropping her voice to a conversational whisper as she gave his crotch a rather pointed look.

Cal guffawed.  “Are you asking me if I’ve got a tiny dick, Princess?  Because I can tell you with a hundred percent honesty that the size of my cock and the size of my truck are very directly related.  They’re both big and bad, but if you don’t believe me, I’d be pleased to give you a private showing.”

Melody’s jaw dropped at his audacity.  “You… you just can’t say things like that!” she blustered, blushing furiously as he laughed in her face.

“I just did.  Besides, you started it,” he accused, propping his hands on his narrow hips as he leaned forward and stared her down.  “Don’t dish it out if you can’t handle having it spoon-fed back to you, Princess.”  Damn, Cal privately mused, he hadn’t had this much fun with a woman with her clothes on in years.  He couldn’t help wondering how exciting she’d be with her clothes off.  He definitely be making it a point to find that out as soon as humanly possible.

“I revert to my earlier statement.  You are a pig,” she reiterated with a disgusted shake of her head, her ponytail flying over one shoulder to smack him in the face as she moved.

“Maybe, but you’re just mad that you can’t seem to get one-up on me.  Not used to a man that will stand his ground and fight with you?” he asked, fishing for a response from her.  He wanted to know just how much she’d reveal about her ex-fiancé in casual conversation.  Her brother didn’t think there’d been any kind of physical abuse and based on her reactions to him, he tended to think RJ was right, but he wanted to be sure.  Because if he was wrong, she wouldn’t need his protection because he’d simply kill the motherfucker and be done with it.

“My former fiancé didn’t fight.  It was too low-class a thing for him to do.  He used to call our arguments spirited debates.  My ass, they were debates.  Freaking moron.  A fight is a fight, right?” she asked as she grunted with exertion while she tried to pry one of the lug nuts loose.

“Right,” he agreed with a nod, sighing as her tool slipped again.  “Politicians have….what did you call ‘em?  Spirited debates?  Real men and women fight.”

“See, that’s what I thought, too.  But maybe that was the problem,” Melody muttered as she twisted the tire iron sharply, silently cursing the tight bolt.  “I always did think Bradley had political ambitions.  God knows that it’s what his dear old mommy and daddy wanted for him,” she continued to growl through gritted teeth as she twisted the tire iron violently.  “Eureka!” she shouted when the bolt moved a few millimeters. “Did you see that?  It moved,” she yelped, as her body made a tiny celebratory shimmy.
Cal chuckled softly at her little dance.  “Sounds like this Bradley fella was kinda a douche,” he surmised, carefully watching Melody’s face.

“That is the understatement of the frickin’ year.  Heck, maybe the decade, too,” Melody muttered, lifting one hand to take a swipe at her sweaty forehead.

Edging toward her, Cal tried to make a grab for the tool in her hand.  “Seriously, babe.  Let me do that for you,” he demanded gruffly, afraid she was going to either damage the wheel well or herself with her rough use of the tool.

“I’m about done warnin’ you, Stranger, so I’ll try and be real clear one last time.  You try to touch my tire iron again and I’m gonna introduce it to the side of that hard head of yours.  Repeatedly,” she informed him grimly while she desperately tried to loosen the second lug nut.  “And, for the record, let me just state that I am most certainly NOT your babe,” she huffed, panting with exertion.

He could see her energy waning and shook his head.  “You’re completely right, you aren’t my babe,” he agreed, covering Melody’s icy hands with his as she growled fiercely at the tire.  “Right now, you’re more of my pain in the ass, woman,” he continued, his hands tightening on hers as he helped her turn the lug nut. “This’d be so much easier if you’d just let me do it,” he stated again, afraid he was going to hurt her hand by squeezing it too hard.  “Honest to God, sassy, sweet and stubborn is not the sexy combination I thought it would be on you.”
