Synopsis

Sometimes two broken pieces make a whole.

He’s the one she’s always loved.

She’s the one he could never have.

A forbidden night of passion resulted in years of heartbreak when he walked away. Now she’s in danger and needs his help.

Trust doesn’t come easy for FBI Agent Nick Stone, especially when it comes to love, but he’ll risk it all for Katelyn Slade.

Including his heart.

Bullets fly, betrayals are exposed, and the flames from their past ignite.

His protection might be what saves her but in the end she will be his salvation.

This is Book two in the Acts Of Honor series, the spin-off series to Men Of Honor. It’s Nick and Katelyn’s story and is told in dual POV, has an HEA with no cliffhanger and it can be read as a standalone. However, I highly recommend that you read the Men Of Honor series prior, as characters play recurring roles in both series.

*MY REVIEW*

I have to say I was a bit worried about this book because the Character's aren't really a big part of the other books. But I shouldn't have been. This book really kept in with the style that I have came to love about K.C. I didn't think that I would love this story as much but I think I love this story just as much if Not more than some of the other's.
You come to learn about Katelyn's past and why she is this way she is. She has a very heartbreaking past that only one person know's everything about and that's her brother who she is trying to prove is being set up from crimes he didn't do. She calls one person from her past that she never thought would ever be apart of her again. When Bullets start to fly and her life is put on the line what does she do? She faces a past she never wanted to face again. Faces things that she thought she would never have to tell anyone again. But what she didn't think she would ever have was the love and heart of the one boy that broke her heart all them years ago. But now that he is a man that has been with her every step of the way with facing down that past and proving her brother's innocence's maybe there is a chance they can be together. What happens in this heartbreaking romantic suspense is truly magic at its best. I cant wait for more from this series.

Excerpt

He begins moving inside of me with slow, exquisite strokes, his eyes never leaving mine. He looks at me in a way I’ve longed to have someone look at me my whole life. Like I matter, like I’m important…like I am more. When it’s time for him to go back this is what I’ll remember. This is what I’ll keep close to me on the nights I ache for him, to remember that someone looked at me like this once. Even if I don’t get it for a lifetime, it’s better than not getting it at all.

Just like the man himself.

Reaching up, I cup his strong, stubbly jaw. He encircles my wrist and kisses the inside of it, right over my tattoo.

No words needed.

As more tears begin to fall he leans down and catches them with his lips. “Feel me, Kate. Feel nothing but me.”

“I do. You’re all I feel.”

“Just us,” he whispers.

“Just us.”

I pulled Black Jack to a stop as I looked out over the hill country. There was nothing like being back at home in Texas and on the ranch. No early morning strategizing meetings with Dalton. No pressure from the sponsors to be on my A game. Nothing to worry about at all. Just nature. There was nothing like it. Pulling on the reigns, I turned Black Jack and headed back to the house. She’d be here soon and I still needed to take a shower. “Let’s go boy,” I shouted as I gave Jack a bit of pressure to get him into a run. Twenty minutes later hot water was running over my body. My hands were leaning against the travertine wall as I hung my head with my eyes closed. “If that’s not the best damn site I’ve seen in awhile.” With a grin, I smiled as I felt her hands move across my wet body. “Did you miss me?” she whispered against my skin while she slowly moved her lips down my chest.

MY REVIEW
I'm not normally a big fan of MC series. I once read a book a while back about a MC that was so badly written that it turned me off of them. Well I shouldn't worry about that when it comes to Terri Anne Browning because less face it she is a rock star writer that knocks everything she does out of the park. This was my first time reading any of this series and I devoured them in a matter of a day! I could NOT put them down no matter how hard I tried to.
When I first started this series I knew that I was going to have a favorite and I knew it was going to be Jet and Flick. I wasn't expecting what I got. I fell even more in love with them. I didn't want this book to end. I cried tears of sorrow with this couple. I cried tears of joy as well as angry. She hit them all. At the end of the day I know that this isn't going to be the end of this series and when it does end it will be a bitter sweet time.

Excerpt

It was late.
       I was really tired.
I had a full day at work tomorrow and I needed to be up early enough so I could swing by the gym before I went into my office.
I had also agreed to have drinks with a fellow attorney after my final court appearance of the day. It was a semidate I had already rescheduled twice, so I couldn’t reasonably back out again without looking like a complete jerk. Doing any of that on a few hours of sleep was less than ideal, but I was getting used to running on fumes lately. I, too, was having dreams that woke me up in the middle of the night, that left me shaken, heated, and too wound up to stay in bed.
Only my dreams weren’t terror inducing—they were good. Oh, so fucking good. They were better than good. They were the best dreams I had ever had. Hell, the dreams were better than any kind of actual sexual experience I had ever had while wide-awake. They were the kind of dreams that had me jerking up from a dead sleep while I panted and sweated. I woke up twisting in my sheets and touching myself because the man that starred in each and every single one of them was nowhere around.
Control was everything to me, and Zeb Fuller made me want to lose it even when he was sound asleep in his own bed all the way across Denver.

Defenseless Sneak Peak By Corinne Michaels

I look around because the hair on the back of my neck prickles. “We need to get out of here.” Someone is here, watching, listening, and now it’s time to do what I do best. “I’ve missed you.” I smile while I use the tip of my finger to trace his jawline. Mark’s eyes shift over my head as he pulls me flush against his body. We’re both facing exits. “I’ve missed you more,” he plays along. This might just work. He’s on alert as well and senses something awry. His fingers splay across my lower back as he holds me close. “Maybe we should head back to my place so you can show me just how much.” I glance over his shoulder. His blonde hair falls in his eyes as he dips his head into my neck. I know the move, but a shiver runs down my spine. “You’d like that, wouldn’t you?” I release a very low moan, which I didn’t give permission to escape. Mark’s lips glide across my skin. I’m not sure he’s acting. I’m not even sure that I am. Then Mark reminds me this is serious. “There are two guys behind you.” His voice is low enough that only I can hear him. To anyone passing, we’re two lovers reacquainting ourselves. “One at my two o’clock, and the other is out of my view.” “One just passed behind you twice. I think going toward my exit is best.” I snuggle closer. “I’m ready when you are.” The double meaning is meant for anyone to hear, but Mark should know it means I’m ready to disappear. “You’ll have to keep up, though.” He leans back while cupping my face. His lips hover over mine. “I don’t have any problems keeping you satisfied, princess.” My pulse spikes. I know he can hear it, feel it, see in my eyes that I’m affected. My breaths are shallow as his hands slowly make their way down my arms. “Arrogant prick,” I mutter. I can tell he’d be an incredible lover. His overconfidence would only play to my benefit. We’re both cut from the same cloth, ready to fight for dominance. He’d win, though. I can see it in his eyes. There would be no battle, Mark has already won. Right now, he controls me. He determines whether we kiss, what it’ll be like, and for the first time in my life—I surrender. His lips come closer. “They’re closing in,” he whispers, his eyes locked on me. “Charlie?” he asks. “What?” My voice is barely audible. “This will happen again when we don’t have to fight off people, and then you’ll be mine.” I don’t have time to reply. His lips crash down on mine as he spins me around so he leads our exit. The second our mouths collide, my brain disconnects. My fingers tangle in his hair, grabbing it to pull him close. Mark’s hands hold my face to his and he continues to guide me. I know we’re moving but I have no idea to where. In this instant, I don’t care. Never has someone made me feel so desperate for them. I never lose control, never feel so lost, yet right now, I am. I’m raw, exposed, and completely vulnerable.
