Hazel

I’ve spent my younger years acting, safe in a world of make-believe. I learnt to transform into roles to hold onto a sense of harmony in my life.

Years later, still in that moment, I am another face. Another mask. I am not me—the forgotten daughter, the quiet friend, the unrequited love.

Until the pretending becomes meaningless.

And my life hardens again.

I’m tired of acting for my friends when my parents ignore me. I’m tired of acting for myself when I want the world to stop being so hard. I’m tired of holding back from the only man I’ve ever loved.

Even though being drawn to him petrifies me above all else.

When I act to him, he sees right through me.

Each and every time.

Robbie

She has haunted my dreams for years. The girl I teased to watch her blush. The girl I watched in quiet agony. The girl I had a chance with, one I ruined when I pushed her away.

Now, after all these years, she’s returning to work for me. A ruse to make her mine.

I will show her that she deserves to be cherished, and loved. I’ll bring back that goddess who took my breath away when I was twenty.

You only live once. Side by side, I only want this final lifetime spent with her.

“Your eggs!” Nonna suddenly yells at Trice, startling us as we sit at the table as she points to her. I pass Hazel the Corn Flakes as I reach out for the toast that Mamma has prepared. I stare at Nonna, confused, wondering if one of us was meant to go to the chicken coup to grab some eggs this morning.
“Nonna, we’ve been here before. We have plenty of time,” Trice pleads, her voice gently trying to placate her. “You really should stop watching Dr Phil.”
“It’ll be too late!” She sighs, holding her hand to her chest. “They will be gone soon.” She looks over to Hazel, then her eyes barrel into mine. “You need to hurry up too.”
“Nonna, have you got Grappa in your coffee this morning?” I laugh, trying to knock the worried look from her face.
Mamma brings over the percolator and holds it up for us. I nod and lift my cup while shifting my eyes to Nonna then back to her. She chuckles as she finishes pouring.
“Trice, you do have plenty of time. You know Nonna is just impatient.”
I poke my tongue into my cheek for a moment and then I sip my coffee while wondering if Nonna is starting to lose it.
Trice sees my confusion and waves her hand at me. “It’s nothing to worry about. Nonna saw an episode on Dr Phil about fertility and apparently by my age, my eggs will start to shrivel up. She just wants to be a bisnonna.”
I laugh as Alex’s face pales, causing Trice to laugh—loud. “It’s okay, babe. We’re fine, remember?” she teases, rubbing his arm. He relaxes and shakes his head. I chuckle as his eyes flick over to me and he mouths arsehole.
Mamma moves behind me to Hazel and offers her some coffee. Dr Phil has a lot to answer for when it came to my Nonna.

MY REVIEW
Let me just tell you that I am in love with this book. I didn't know what this book would actually intell. But I'm so glad that I took that chance on this book. This author is a new one to me. I have never read anyother books by her but I quickly became a fan of her's.
This book takes on things that are very real. I think that when people read this they are going to see that this can happen to anyone at anytime. I went on a emotional ride with this book and it didn't stop till the very end. And even than it still wasn't done with you. I didn't want this book to end. I hope that with this book that it will reach out and touch a person and maybe change some ones life for the better. I can only hope that this book will save one person. With that being said I'm going to give this book

Subject: You’re a flippin’ idiot

Good morning my dear, naive friend,

I hope you’re enjoying a breakfast of regret and sorrow.

Why?

Because you sent me to work for Dean Harper, aka a control freak in a tailor-made suit. Sure he owns the trendiest restaurants in NYC, but c'mon Jo, his ego makes Kanye West look like the Dalai Lama.

He's the type of guy that only hears the word “no” when it's followed by “don’t stop.”

Working for Dean Harper would be like selling my soul to the devil…and before you say anything, I don’t care if the devil has punch-you-in-the-gut brown eyes and an ass to match. My soul isn’t for sale.

Regretfully yours,
Lily

The Allure of Dean Harper is a full-length standalone romance with overlapping characters from The Allure of Julian Lefray. Both books can be read separately. Chronologically, The Allure of Julian Lefray happens first.

 My Review
I have to say this book had me laughing out loud so many times. It is a very fun quick read that when you start you wont be able to stop. These two together are whitty and funny but the chemistry is off the charts. I loved how this wasn't a over the top in your face romance. Yes there were some really sweet moments. There was also some what were you thinking moment's. This book isn't a very emotional book but it does have some moments in it when you just want to slap one of them. I will defiantly be going back to read this lough out loud romantic comedy.

I am a lover of books, chocolate, reality TV, black labs, and cold weather. Seriously, if I had it my way I would be curled up on the couch with all of those things...everyday.

I live in Texas where I spend my free time writing and reading. My favorite authors are Mindy Kaling & Jonathan Safran Foer. I'm a comedy geek and love all things funny. Women like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling are definitely the biggest inspirations for my writing, though I think my work tends to skew a bit smuttier than theirs.

Monster Prick Cover Reveal By Kendall Ryan

Over my dead body.
That's what I told Gracie when she informed me of her plan to pick some random guy she met online to get rid of her pesky virginity.
If anyone is touching her, it's going to be me.
I shouldn't even be considering it, but I can't get it out of my head: her, under me, begging me.
***
Arrogant. Cocky. Prick.
Those are the words I’d use to describe my older brother’s dangerously handsome best friend.
When he learned of my plan to kick off my white cotton briefs, ditching my good girl persona once and for all by losing my virginity to the first eligible bachelor I could find, he flipped out. Said over his dead body.
He says if anyone’s going to do, it’s going to be him.
I hate that I’m even considering his offer.
But I am … I sooo am.
Ever since he suggested it, all I can think about is his cocky smile on those full lips as he’s driving in to me.
But if we cross that line … will I ever be able to go back?
MONSTER PRICK, a sexy romantic comedy, is a spin off novella from SCREWED, but can be read as a standalone, as it features a new couple.

“What if I could help you?”

I have no idea what the hell I was thinking. The words just leaped out of my mouth. Listening to Gracie talk about kicking off her granny panties and popping her cherry with some random Internet dick...I guess it drove me temporarily insane.

But there's no taking back the idea now. Gracie sucks in her breath, blinking wide-eyed. “What do you mean?” she asks.

What do I mean? Here I am, sitting next to the world's most beautiful girl—drowning in her eyes, her scent, the gentle puff of her breath on my mouth that begs me to close the distance. I know what I want, but I also know what will happen if I take it. My best friend will rip off my balls and feed them to me. And I'll probably deserve every second.

But sweet Jesus, I'm pretty sure Gracie wants this, too, and that's enough to blow my better judgment to pieces. All I care about right now is making her feel better. In as many ways as possible. And if her slightly quickened breathing, blown pupils, and flushed cheeks are anything to go by...

As an experiment, I dart out the tip of my tongue to wet my lips. Her darkened eyes drop like a magnet yanked them. Yeah, bingo. Having a little black book as thick as the dictionary has its advantages. I know damn well how to tell when a woman wants me.

Before I know it, I have her hand and am dragging her behind me while I snarl at Finn, who is just about ready to bust out laughing. I stop when she tugs her hand away and looks back. She’s looking to escape, and those two fuckers are looking like that wolf, the one that wants to eat the little girl, and they aren’t going to eat her.
Fuck that. I will kill them first. Red Riding Hood. Yeah, that’s it. Little Red Riding Hood. “If you think for one second I’m gonna leave you out for them to try and snack on, Tales, you have lost your fucking mind.” I hold out my hand. “Let’s go.” She hesitates for a moment then grabs her purse and looks up at me. “Where are you taking me?” “You’ll sleep in my room, just until Mads gets here. Then I will lock you both up somewhere.” I say it in a way I know makes her nervous, and hell, that’s kind of hot, too. I grab her hand again and pull her behind me. She doesn’t fight me; she comes willingly. I open the door and turn the light on, and all she can say is wow, her eyes wide and full of wonder. My blood is pooling in a place it shouldn’t be right now, and I think of that green ogre chick, the one who’s a princess. Then all hell breaks loose, and she is a nasty green ogre. Fuck, Tales, you need to show me your inner, what’s her name? Fiona. Yeah, that’s her name. Shrek and Fiona. “Nice, right? Hop in bed,” I say, pulling back the covers. She looks at me all wide-eyed, and damn, damn, damn.
“Where will you sleep?” she asks. “With you.” Her mouth drops open, and I feel a little off. Not a lot, just a little. “Is there a problem, Tales? Would you rather be out there where they—” She shakes her head. “Okay. It’s just—”
“I will be a perfect gentleman.”
“You promise?” she asks, looking back and forth between the bed and me. I point to the bed. “Like a slumber party.”
“Those two girls?” she asks and a slight frown traces her lips. “They came out of here.” There isn’t a question in her voice, and I sure as hell can’t lie to her after she saw them.
“They left. Clean sheets.” I point to the dirty sheets pooled on the floor. “It’s been dealt with.”
She climbs in, and I am right behind her.
Once we’re settled in, I ask, “You comfortable?”
She pulls one of the pillows from the top and puts it in the middle. “I’m fine, and just remember, I’m not like them.”
“I know who you are, Tales.”
“Right.” She rolls to her side, facing away from me.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” I ask as I settle in next to … the pillow.
“Nothing. Thank you for a place to sleep, Memphis.”
“Of course. Sorry I didn’t get Madison’s message. Phone wasn’t charged.”
“But you knew she was coming?”
“Yep.” When I think about the statement, I know she is judging me for being, well, me.
“It’s charging now.”
“She’ll text me when she gets in,” she says, tightening the blanket around her. I let the quiet hang in the air like a fucking black cloud for as long as I can stand it then finally say, “Tales?”
“Hmm?”
“I’m really sorry about your father.”

“Thank you for the flowers.” That statement seems like a big fuck you to me.
“Sorry I couldn’t make it.”
“He doesn’t know you didn’t come, Memphis.” She yawns. “Goodnight.”

MY REVIEW

I loved this book. I can only hope that we are going to be getting more from this series.
I'm usually a little hesitant when it comes to rocker books. Right from the start this book was so different from all the others that I have read. I think that's why this one stands out to me. You have the Rocker and the Good Girl. Typical right? But what you don't really know is that the good girl is the preachers daughter and that the rocker grew up next door to each other. Or that the good girl really is a rebel right from the start but doesn't think that. The bad boy Is that a bad boy with a soft spot for a certain preachers daughter. One night while they were teens changes the way she looks at him and her feelings for him. Years later they reconnect and he learns just what happened and how they are tied to each other in a way that nobody else knows. This book is so far beyond your typical rock star book that I couldn't even began to tell you. this is book that will have you loving the
rock -n- roll life at the same time wishing you could get a STD!!

Surge By Sloan Storm

Title: Surge
Series: Fastlane #1
Author: Sloan Storm
Genre: Romance
 Release Date: September 23, 2015

Blurb

Dyson Vix. The bad boy of Formula One Racing.

The first time I met him he was completely naked, and he couldn’t have cared less.

The second time I saw Dyson, he just stood there, staring at me. His fire suit hung low on his waist, and his body was dripping in sweat, grease and… well, you get the idea.

The ultimate playboy, there isn’t a hairpin turn he can’t handle or a woman he can’t have. Dyson lives life like he drives – hard, determined, and like it might be his last day.

We couldn’t have been more different. After a family tragedy, I’ve been left to raise my nephew, Simon, all alone. Raising him has given me more joy than I could’ve imagined, but it came at a price. He is my entire world, and everything I do is with him in mind. I haven’t had a date in months, instead focusing solely on him. Man troubles are the last thing we need, especially the kind reckless thrill seeker Dyson Vix would bring.

But fate has other ideas.

I’ve been thrust into his fast-paced world, and the more time I spend with him -- the more I see of the troubled man behind the roguish charm -- the more my resolve crumbles. Our chemistry is undeniable but isn’t without risk. Jealousy and threats to my home life mean I could lose everything I’ve worked so hard to protect.

The stakes have never been higher.

Will we make it, or are we destined to crash and burn?

My Review
I have to say that I thought this book would be like all the others that I have read. But that is not the case. What you think is going to be the bad boy of racing turns out not to be so bad. The two main charters in this book both have their moments but those moments are what turn out to be some of the best parts of this book.
While I have to say some of the parts I saw coming there were other parts I never seen coming. Although I would have liked to seen more from the charters and the way they were towards each other, Overall I think that this book and the way it was written is very good. It is something that I can see myself going back and rereading. With that being said I have to give this book a 3 1/2 star rating and only because I wanted more out of the ending of the book.

Excerpt

It wasn’t the first time I’d seen a man’s bare ass first thing in the morning.

But one that… perfect?

No.

Never.

With my fingers still wrapped around the door handle, I froze in place, my eyes inappropriately fixed on the man’s partially exposed, lean and muscular backside. Morning sunlight shined on him through the exam room window, casting the shadow of his hard body beneath the thin fabric of the exam gown.

I stood there for a moment too long, temporarily forgetting I was there to do my job. Just then, the man, who had been looking out the window, turned in my direction.

We locked eyes. He arched an eyebrow.

Shit.

As quickly and as subtly as I could, I averted my gaze and instead snapped my eyes to his chart which I held in my free hand. Around the same time, a strong odor of over-applied perfume entered my awareness. What’s worse, it smelled like a mix of cotton candy and sweat—cheap and tacky.

Continuing into the room, the source of the aroma appeared in my peripheral vision. To my left sat two women. One a blonde, the other, a redhead. They looked to be in their early to mid-twenties, around my age, and by the way they dressed, not from around here—Austin that is.

“Hello,” I said, flashing a polite smile at them.

Their eyes met mine with an icy glare. They didn’t respond.

I looked away from them and back towards the man.

“Mr.… Vix?”

He took an extra second to reply. His eyes wandered along my body.

Wow? Really?

At last, he nodded and looked at me. “Dyson,” he said.

The door to the exam room closed behind me with a hiss of the hydraulic swing arm.

“All right,” I began, shaking my head a bit.

“Dyson… Dr. Wilcox will be in in just a moment. In the meantime, I need to check your vital signs.”

Dyson walked towards me and stopped about a foot or so away.

“Should I disrobe?”

I blinked. Clearing my throat, I stammered a response, “Um, n-no. That won’t be necessary.”

He winked at me. “Another time then.”

This had to be a joke.

I straightened my spine and nodded in the direction of the exam table. “Have a seat, Mr. Vix.”

But instead of walking towards the table, the man looked at me again.

“It’s Dyson.”

“Right, my apologies. Have a seat, Dyson.”

The thin tissue paper covering the length of the table crinkled and crackled as he sat down on it. Dyson swung his legs casually over the side and hooked his hands along the padded edge. Composing myself, I spent the next few minutes getting his vital signs without any further interruptions.

Once finished, I looked at him.

“Dyson, I need to draw some blood for the tests we’re required to take. Do needles bother you?”

My eyes locked on his. They were a shade of blue that I’d never seen before. Blueish gray, like steel. He reached up and slid his fingers through his dirty-blonde hair.

“Nope,” he replied with an easy shrug.

“Don’t bother me at all.”

From behind, I sensed the two women watching our exchange. Their silence was the only clue I needed that they were more than just friends with him.

A couple of minutes later, I’d finished drawing his blood.

Only one thing remained before Dr. Wilcox would come in and conduct the full exam. I walked to the other side of the exam room, picked up a urine sample cup and made my way back towards him, extending it in his direction.

One corner of his mouth turned upward in a deviant curl. Wordless, he eased off the exam table, took it from me, and passed by on the way to the restroom, next to the entrance of the exam room.

My head moved on a swivel while he walked. Dyson made no effort to cinch up the back of his exam gown. He stopped, catching me looking yet again. However, instead of saying anything, he gestured over his shoulder towards the two women.

“Is it okay if I have some company?”

My mouth drifted open. “I…”

The expression on his face was indecipherable. Was he being serious? The truth was, no one ever asked me a question like that during an exam before. On the other hand, nothing about this exam was normal so far.

Dyson chuckled at my lack of a reply. “Joke.”

I responded with an uneasy laugh.

Why was this guy making me feel like a thirteen year old?

Was I blushing?

I reached up and touched my cheek with a subtle swipe.

It felt like it.

Just then, Dyson began to toss the cup in the air with casual flicks of his hand. He gestured towards the women, pointing to the one on the left.

“That’s Svetlana,” he began before he nodded in the direction of the other one.

“And that’s Anastasia.”

Yep. Not from Austin.

Once he finished, he looked back at me and raised his eyebrows. I looked at him for a moment, not sure of the meaning. A second later, it dawned on me.

“Oh, I, um,” I said. “My name is Ava. Ava Walters.”

“Girls, keep Ava company while I’m gone.”

Seconds later, Dyson disappeared into the bathroom, closing the door behind him. I turned my attention back to the women, who seemed less thrilled with me now than ever.

“Anastasia and Svetlana?” I began, summoning all the politeness and professionalism I could. “Is that… are you Russian?”

They glanced at each other for a moment before cackling with laughter. Without answering me, they spoke to one another in a language I didn’t understand. Once they’d finished, they looked away from me and returned their attention to their phones.

I shook my head and tried to ignore their rudeness. Instead, I used the time to make notes in Dyson’s chart. Around that time, the door to the exam room opened. Dr. Wilcox walked inside, nodding in the direction of the women.

“Good morning,” he said.

Their attention never wavered from their phones. Dr. Wilcox approached me with a suspicious frown on his face.

“Mr. Vix? Where…?”

I nodded towards the bathroom.

“Ah, I see. Very good.” He extended his hand towards me, unfolding his fingers as he did.

“May I?”

I passed Dyson’s paperwork to him. Dr. Wilcox perused my notes for several moments.

“Do you need me for anything else, Dr. Wilcox?” I asked.

Dr. Wilcox raised his hand to his chin as he studied Dyson’s chart.

“No,” he muttered. “Not right now, thank you, Ava.”

With that, I turned and started to walk away, when Dr. Wilcox spoke once again.

“On second thought, Ava, there is something I need to discuss with you.”

I looked at him. “Yes?”

However, before he told me, the bathroom door opened, and Dyson appeared. He walked towards me with the nearly full sample cup in his hand. He shook it back and forth with a few quick snaps, causing the liquid inside to bubble.

“Be careful with that,” he said, passing it to me.

I took it from him. “Thank you. I will,” I deadpanned.

When I finished speaking, Dr. Wilcox introduced himself.

“Mr. Vix? I’m Dr. Wilcox.”

Dyson nodded. “Good to meet ya, Doc.”

Dr. Wilcox closed Dyson’s folder and patted it with his hand.

“Now that we’re done with your vital signs, blood work and the like, we just need to conduct a brief physical exam, and we’ll get you on your way. I know you’ve got to get back to the track.”

“All right,” Dyson replied.

“Would you like to do the exam one-on-one?” Dr. Wilcox said. “You know, have some privacy?”

Dyson shrugged.

“Doesn’t matter to me. Everyone can stay. I don’t care.”

Dr. Wilcox was the consummate professional, always putting the needs and comfort of his patients above everything else. Satisfied Dyson was ready to proceed, he nodded, “Okay then, we’ll have you disrobe first and then come back over to the exam table.”

Without wasting a second, Dyson dropped the gown to his feet.

Still holding the urine sample in my hand, I stared in slack-jawed awe. There was no getting around it. I leered at the man. While he hadn’t yet noticed me, the women did.

“Hey! Girl!” one of them growled at me in a thick European accent.

Dyson and Dr. Wilcox turned towards me.

“Is everything all right, Ava?” Dr. Wilcox asked.

Ignoring the girl, I nodded, refocused on the task at hand, and walked in the direction of Dr. Wilcox to assist with the examination. Picking up Dyson’s folder from the exam table, I opened it and readied myself to take notes for Dr. Wilcox, refusing to look at Dyson.

After all, one look was all I needed to know he was physical perfection. Lean, muscular, not to mention the most well-endowed man I’d ever seen.

This exam couldn’t get over fast enough.
